February here in East Sussex began as a cold month with light falls of snow -the cold weather not always being particularly good for my condition as it seems to affect my legs more than normal. For several days we had falls of snow and whilst not good for my hindquarters it was somehow was nice to walk on - soft and cool - it seemed easier on my rear feet!
The first few days of the month were bright and sunny - even if cold and frosty. I was able every morning to join the Carla and the two collies - Rex and Skunk along with Mum before breakfast and we would all go down to the agility area at the bottom of our fields as we do every morning. Dad would help me down the stairs from the bedroom safely and then I would sit and wait with Carla and the other, whilst Mum got ready.
Of course I take my Freebies' - usually two, and hang onto them both! Mum throws them shorter distance for me these days so I only have a little way to go to collect them. Have to be careful 'cos Carla is prone to pinching one if I don't keep an eye on her!
All Frisbies' are mine! Always have been - always will be!
Once Mum has set up her course and got all the jump and things were she wants them, then I go on my “viewing” platform and watch Skunk attempt to show how good he is! Of course he thinks he is the “bee's knees!” but he is not that good really! Occasionally he has the odd moment of brilliance and gets it right but most of the time he lacks any real “oomph!”
However, young Rex is a real “flyer” - fast and flowing, he sails over the jumps -bit like me when I was into the agility business! His weave is good to - plenty of speed! Well I have given him a few tips of course. Folk used to reckon I was a “hot cookie” at the weave, especially for such a big lad!
