A good breeder will supply you with a menu
and recommendations for feeding. Good plan to stick to this, try
to avoid the "give it a bit more" syndrome, as this will usually
result in a "dash for the loo" which may be the hall carpet if you
are slow on the uptake!
One hears all sorts of dreadful stories about
"twisted guts", a condition which is serious business by any description!
Several people I know have experienced this and by all accounts
it's one to miss! In brief it displays symptoms which are best described
as a bloated belly. I gather time is essential so if you ever have
reason to think your puppy or dog is suffering from this condition
don't hang about - get to the vet immediately!
They do say one should never exercise a GSD
immediately after its eaten, Rest for a time to allow digestion.
Seems like good common sense!
Talk to someone who has experienced the problem,
or read up in one of the many veterinary books available. Nothing
like knowing what you are up against!
Retain a realistic attitude also - it just
may never happen to your Mutt!
