Just a few Questions often asked - here I hope are the answers We will add to them as we discover them!   1 Q. Is there a difference between a GSD and an Alsatian?   A. No. After each of the World Wars anything "German" was rather anti so to avoid the suggestion "German" the word "Alsatian" (taken from the Alsace-Lorraine area) was widely used. The official German name Deustche Schaferhund (German Shepherd Dog.) Incidentally "dog" is part of the official name.       2 Q. What is the average litter size?   A. I'm told the average is 7/8 pups! Litters of 13/14 are experienced!     3 Q. Are longhaired Shepherds OK   A. Yes and around 10% of pups are born with longhaired coats. However I understand these are not eligible for registration into the breed. Bear in mind that long coated GSD are rather harder work than the short-coated version!
